In Hero Siege Season 9, the Marksman class is one of the easiest and most reliable ways for new players to get into both leveling and endgame farming. It offers strong ranged damage, simple scaling, and two very different playstyles depending on whether you prefer active shooting or automated damage. Once you understand the basics, it becomes one of the smoothest progression classes in the game.

This guide breaks down the two main Marksman archetypes, leveling progression, skill priorities, gear choices, and how to approach the Season 9 Incarnation Tree without getting overwhelmed.

Choosing Your Marksman Playstyle

The Marksman class splits into two main builds, and your choice will define your entire gameplay experience.

Multishot Sharpshooter is the classic ranged option. It focuses on firing wide cone attacks that clear entire screens of enemies. It is active, fast-paced, and rewards good positioning. This is usually the most beginner-friendly path because it feels powerful early and scales naturally through the campaign.

Gunner Drone Engineer is a more passive style. Instead of relying on constant attacking, you deploy turrets and drones that automatically deal damage. This build is excellent for boss fights and safer farming since you can focus on movement while your summons handle most of the combat.

Both paths are viable, and you can even start one way and transition later after unlocking key passives.

Leveling and Skill Progression

Early game from level 1 to 45 is all about speed. Your goal is simply to clear campaign zones as quickly as possible and reach your power spikes.

If you are going Multishot, prioritize any early projectile or basic attack skills that improve pierce and area coverage. These help you clear packs without needing gear.

If you are planning to play Gunner Drone later, start investing early into turret-type skills like Cannon Turret or Fire Grenade. These scale well into the mid game and make the transition smoother once drones become your main damage source.

During this phase, damage consistency matters more than optimization. Don’t overthink gear yet—just focus on keeping your clear speed steady.

Level 60 Power Spike

Level 60 is the most important milestone for Marksman progression.

At this point, you unlock major passive nodes at the bottom of the skill tree. These completely change how your build functions.

For Multishot builds, this is where the skill becomes dramatically stronger. Its damage output and projectile spread increase significantly, turning it into a screen-clearing ability rather than a simple attack.

For Gunner Drone builds, level 60 is where the full transition happens. You gain access to stronger drone mechanics and can rely almost entirely on automated damage output. This is when the build becomes much safer and more efficient for farming higher difficulty zones.

Essential Gear and Stat Priorities

Gear depends heavily on your chosen path.

For Multishot physical setups, you want Strength or Dexterity as your main scaling attribute. Your offensive stats should focus on physical skill damage, critical strike chance, and projectile speed. Defensive stats should prioritize life, resistances, and sustain through life on hit.

For Gunner Drone arcane setups, Intelligence becomes the main stat. You will want sentry damage, sentry count, and attack speed for drones. Survivability still depends on resistances, especially pushing toward higher caps for late game survival.

A simple way to think about it is: physical builds scale your weapon shots, while drone builds scale your summons.

Recommended Starter Gear

A few early farming targets can smooth out your progression significantly.

Weapons from Act 3 Desert Dungeon are strong early options if your damage starts to fall behind. They provide solid base stats without requiring rare drops.

Death Knight Gauntlets are a strong glove option due to their combination of offensive stats like critical chance and defensive penetration bonuses.

For mobility, Belt of Skulls is a very useful item. The movement speed it provides makes clearing maps and repositioning during fights much easier, especially for new players learning positioning.

Understanding the Incarnation Tree

Season 9 introduces a massive shared progression system known as the Incarnation Tree. It contains over a thousand nodes and is shared across all characters, making it a long-term power system rather than a short-term upgrade.

Early progression should focus on raw damage and basic survivability. Taking strength or intelligence nodes first helps stabilize your leveling experience. After that, resistances become extremely important for surviving mid-game spikes.

Mid game progression introduces utility effects like chance-based double casts or skill echo mechanics. These dramatically increase damage output once your build starts to mature.

In the late game, you can specialize into deeper modifiers such as area scaling, resistance penetration, and multi-target enhancements.

Beginner Tips for Smooth Progression

The hardest part of Marksman leveling is usually the stretch between level 45 and 60. If your damage starts to slow down, it is completely normal to pause progression and farm earlier zones until you stabilize.

Even if you are playing a pure shooting build, using turrets or drones for bosses is highly effective. They apply debuffs and reduce enemy defenses, making boss fights much easier.

Finally, make sure to use a loot filter early. Marksman builds depend heavily on weapon upgrades, and a filter helps you quickly identify useful bows, guns, and armor without wasting time sorting through drops.

The Marksman in Hero Siege Season 9 is one of the most flexible and beginner-friendly classes available. Whether you choose the fast-paced Multishot style or the safer Gunner Drone setup, both paths offer strong progression into endgame content.

Once you understand your skill scaling and commit to a clear stat direction, the build becomes straightforward to grow and very efficient for farming both gear and experience.
