So I learned something new about my Stelvio last week that I had to share because it's just so typically Italian. The battery gave up on a Thursday morning, no warning at all, just click click click and then absolute silence. Called around and found this place that offers an Alfa Romeo Battery Replacement Service at Battery Zone, so I had them come out and swap it. Simple enough, right? Nope. After the new battery went in, the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree, the windows stopped working, and the infotainment system was convinced the car was a Giulia Quadrifoglio. The guy had to hook up some kind of diagnostic tool and reprogram the battery management system before everything went back to normal. Apparently these cars store all sorts of weird data and if the voltage drops completely, they lose their minds. Has anyone else had bizarre electrical stuff happen after a dead battery on their Alfa? I'm curious if a memory saver would have prevented this or if it's just part of the "character" everyone warns you about before buying one of these cars. Love the thing to death but man it keeps you on your toes.
